Welcome to the The US COE. This player development program provides each PSA player with unique instruction from and exposure to Academy or Center of Excellence coaches from the UK and other parts of the world. Selected youngsters can earn an opportunity of a lifetime to return to the UK to be coached by UK Academy or Center of Excellence staff in training sessions, play matches against other UK clubs, experience English Premier League games and receive tours of the first team's stadium and facilities.
To date, PSA has hosted coaches from Sunderland AFC, Liverpool FC, Watford FC, Middlesbrough FC and Everton Chile FC as well as an inspirational visit from the Manchester United Chief Scout. Eight PSA players have experienced UK soccer at Sunderland AFC and Watford FC.
Development Every PSA player will receive coaching from our UK partner clubs during the week long Youth Excellence Camp or any Development Day. In July of 2010 our players were instructed by Sunderland AFC Academy Coach Ian Dipper, Liverpool FC Academy Coach Magnus Alford and Middlesbrough FC Academy Coach Paul Dalton. In addition, players nine years or older identified by the PSA Director of Coaching as having outstanding potential will be eligible for an additional weekly training session held throughout the year.
Selection During the Youth Excellence Camp or a Development Day, players may be selected for the Opportunity of a Lifetime program by UK Operations Director Andy Grant of visiting club representative.
Opportunity of a Lifetime The selected players will travel to England for a week, at no cost to the player, to play with other Academy and/or Center of Excellence players of their own age already on track to play professional soccer. In addition, once a player reaches the age of sixteen, he is eligible for promotion into one of two programs. The first is to train full-time at a UK Academy or Center of Excellence. The second is a roster position on the PSA senior team Los Gatos Storm that provides training with collegiate and exprofessional players while providing local and national exposure to collegiate and professional coaches.
