Futsol is played between two teams of five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper, and is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines, not walls or boards, with a smaller ball that bounces signifcantly less than a |
|
| |
regular soccer ball. The rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small places.
And the players love to play the game due to it's fast pace and amount of touches they get on the ball.
Every Academy team is required to particpate in Futsol training that is held in the APJCC gym. In addtion, each Ferbruary a month long tournament is organized. |

Goalkeepers that show outstanding potential may be selected into the Center of Excellence program. In 2009 PSA goalkeeper Stefan Skoff was selected and spent a week in the UK training and competing in matches at the Watford FC Youth Academy.

The senior team Los Gatos Storm allows our Academy to emphasize winning at the senior levels while concentrating on player development and enjoyment of the game at the youth levels. Youth players are inspired to continually improve on their game in hopes of one day competing on the team.
Academy players are eligible to compete on the team at the age of sixteen years. Outstanding players younger than sixteeen may be given the opportunity to train with the team providing them with an additional challenge to positively aid in their development.
The senior team gives players the opportunity to play with other players already competing in collegiate play, provides exposure to college coaches and, beginning in 2011, compete for a national title in the USL's Premier Development League and U.S. Open Cup.

This player development program provides each PSA player with unique instruction from Academy or Center of Excellence coaches from the UK and other parts of the world via the Youth Excellence Team Camp and Development Days.
Selected youngsters can earn an opportunity of a lifetime to return to the UK to be coached by UK Academy or Center of Excellence staff in training sessions, play matches against other UK clubs, experience English Premier League games and receive tours of the first team's stadium and facilities.
To date, PSA has hosted coaches from Sunderland AFC, Liverpool FC and Everton Chile FC. Eight PSA players have experienced UK soccer at Sunderland AFC and Watford FC.
